Naturally, you'll have to convert English to Japanese first. If you can't do it yourself, Google %26amp; Babelfish can do a hack job for you.


When you reduce Japanese from kanji/kana to phonetics you are liable to ambiguate the meaning.|||Japanese doesn't have the same sentence structure as English. I don't believe there is a translator for it.|||THIS THIS THIS!!!

I love both languages and cultures and plan on going to Marshall U. in West Virginia to learn these languages with my basic classes. Would it be wise to learn these and work on becoming a translator and what career opportunities could i pursue with these skills?|||On Japanese: I graduated from Marshall University, and they have an excellent Japanese language program. I studied Japanese language for two semesters and went for an exchange semester at Tokyo Denki Daigaku, all expenses paid by the uni. The International Adviser there went to Kansai Gaidai (American guy) and has a Japanese wife.





For the Japanese part - I highly recommend it. The staff at MU are quite helpful and will support you in your academic aspirations!|||Hmmm, I'm thinking french might be wiser to translate as they seem to hate learning the languages of others or at least speaking as such.

How much does a japanese language translator get paid?

It depends on many things. What are your qualifications, who are you working for, what is the job that you are doing.





If I was wanting to hire somebody to do a translation for me here in the UK, say it was 1000 words of a non-technical nature, then I'd expect to pay around 拢110-拢120. If it was of a technical nature (legal, medical, engineering, etc) then it might be over 拢150 per thousand words.





If you are freelance then you can negotiate your own rates with a company you want to work for. But if you sign up to do regular work for them, you may not charge so much.





All this is for English into Japanese. It should be slightly less the other way around. You always translate into your native language.





Japanese is one of the top paying languages, European ones are much cheaper.|||52564654654

ONLINE TRANSLATORS DO NOT WORK!





Every online translator gives a very, very dodgy translation. They do not pick up on grammar structures, tenses etc. They don't give a proper translation therefore there is no point in using them. If you need anything translated from English into Japanese, use Yahoo! Answers. Ask a question titled "Please translate this English to Japanese" and people on Yahoo! Answers will give a proper translation, grammatically correct, everything right. And they will also write in English letters (roman letters)





Look out for answerers such as "askawow", CB400 (i think that is his name), Belie, 田中. They give very good translations.

I'm not sure whether the referral is free but since translators have to pay a membership fee to be listed with the ATA, there's a good chance you can access the database for free. here is a site that I've found to be fairly accurate with japanese, though no translator is really perfect %26gt;.%26lt;|||Sorry, but there aren't any. Translators never are 100% accurate, simply because the meanings of differently shaped sentences and different words vary and the languages are sometimes so different that the translation sounds tacky.





For example Google translate gathers info from text written by real people, but because it's still growing the translation is not very correct especially in certain languages.|||I believe there is no such thing.

Japanese is very simple in that it's phonetic, so say your name out loud with a Japanese accent, find a Katakana alphabet, and just translate. I don't think it's an exact science. My name's Hayley, but in Japan, they called me He - ye - ri or He - ri. So my Katakana name was the symbol for He and the symbol for ri. (

For an electronic dictionary, there are a number of handheld types that I unfortunately cannot comment on. For the computer though, I find JWPce to be indispensable. Translators that translate an entire sentence/phrase are usually incorrect. There are several meanings for words and the translator isn't sure which definition you're pertaining to. I suggest you study how to format a sentence and conjugate verbs rather than use an online translator for sentences.

What kind of degree to become japanese translator?

any answers are helpful. I have a general idea, but please give your input. thanks.|||~You don't need a degree, you need fluency in the language. If you are referring to a particular type of translator for a particular position, first learn English and learn to ask a complete and comprehensive question, and you need to research the job and certification requirements for that particular job/position. Duh.|||You don't need a degree to become a translator of any language. Your fluency is what gets you the job.





That said, it is difficult to acheive fluency with any language unless you are immersed in the language on a daily basis, and unless you're living in Japan or regularly socialize with people who speak Japanese, your chances of successfully learning the language are best if you enroll in a class of some sort.





You should also consider that if you are able to read and write the language it will give you an edge toward competing for a job as a translator with those who may only know how to speak the language.





It's also not a bad idea to learn about the culture, so that context and certain slangs which are not often taught in language classes can be learned.





Most companies looking to hire a translator require you to pass a test to prove your fluency. Owning a degree doens't neccessarily mean you can speak a language better than someone who doesn't have a degree.|||You would need to study Japanese language as a major. I would recommend that you take courses in Japanese culture, history, and linguistics as well.

If you can't take classes, I'd advise you check JapanesePod101 either via iTunes or on the internet for some basic lessons that'll help you with some simple vocabulary and grammar and also look into buying some books. Still, nothing can replace actual instruction, but it can help and you'll learn what you want to know if you're willing to work hard. Good luck! Most importantly, get a degree in Japanese translation! I would not suggest getting an "online degree" because sometimes companies don't value them as much as people who got their degrees by attending a physical campus. I'd like to become a Japanese translator, but I don't know how to go about this. Though I'm pretty fluent in the language, would I need a degree? Would a degree get me better work? How would I find work? And around how much money could I make? I was planning to mainly focus on text translations (books, movie scripts, legal/business stuff, etc.)|||Translation work is hard to get into. I have a friend who speaks 3 languages fluently and she wanted to translate for the court systems in DC. She had a degree in her specialized language and a minor in a second one. She was also planning on attending graduate school for translation in Geneva, Switzerland to give her a competitive edge (The UN happens to also be here). I speak a few languages and the least you need is certification as a translator. This is not easy to get as the test are very rigorous. There are various Continuing Education programs at Universities that offer professional development that prepares you for the certification. Most jobs require you to be a native speaker of the language, unfortunately, because of the fluidity of language and the nuances that it may have that you cannot learn from a textbook.





Salary-wise these jobs are bleak. On average I think they pay around $40,000. The most in-demand sectors are in medicine and these tend to pay more. I had a professor of French who translated for the UN (she was native French) and she enjoyed her salary because it was completely tax exempt so that can be a possibility. Go on their website and look at the job section for the requirements on translating.





My friend also wants to translate texts but she's put off the entire thing while she works in the health field to save up enough money.

You must type in the Japanese script and that will give you a translation.





Example, type in "おはよう” (ohayou) and it will translate it to: Good morning.





However, ONLINE TRANSLATORS DO NOT WORK! They give false, inaccurate translations. I strongly advise you NOT to use online translators. I can't stress this enough.





If you need a Japanese to English, English to Japanese translation, ask on Yahoo! Answers and people here will translate it properly. But online translators DO NOT WORK.

It doesn't matter if they translate to romaji or to kana/kanji. You just sound foolish by using them because what they give you is almost always wrong and completely nonsensical.

I have been thinking for awhile about becoming a Japaneses translator. I was wondering how long to become one (schooling) and how much do they get paid. You won't make specialist before you ship to basic training unless you have college credits already, and if you have a bachelor's you just get commissioned as a second lieutenant.





If you don't want to enlist, you can major in Japanese at a university and try to find work that way.|||It really depends on who you want to translate for. Like tour guides or for the U.N. It really differs. Sometimes you need up to five years or more to really speak a language fluently. Good luck though. I use Jibbigo to translate the occasional word that I hear and it works ok. Sure, its voice recognition is primitive and prone to errors, but so is all voice recognition. At least it has a retranslate feature for stuff like that.

Thanks.|||If you are only translating single words there is a really good app called Kotoba! It is an English/ Japanese dictionary. You can type in the word you want to look up (In English or Japanese romaji)





And, if you use the earbuds that your ipod came with, there is a microphone attached.|||I use "Kotoba!" and "iDict". These are both free, but I don't think either of them can talk the phrase out to you. I think it will be hard to find one which does, because the kanji can be said in different ways, and most of the time, things are pronounced differently. たとえば、 を　と　は　と　ます。These are all pronounced differently (masu, drop the 'u') in circumstances. However, in Kotoba!, you can look up a word, then look at the examples for it. The examples are in japanese characters, romanji, then english. Sometimes, is also has french, or spanish, too.

Does anyone know of a good english to Japanese translator?

I'm trying to get some words translated, but any translator I have found always displays the words in Japanese symbols instead of just a readable word. (for instance, If I wanted to translate thank you I'd like to get back arigato, not a bunch of symbols I don't know how to read)|||Automated online translators catagorically don't work. They mostly rely on using the most common definition of a word when translating rather than judging from context so most translations beyond very very simple sentences come out as jiberish.





You are better off using an online dictionary, learning some grammar and translating the text yourself, if you can't just go ask a native speaker what it means.

In that case, I usually just piece it together by context.|||Online translation between Japanese and English does not work well. There are some translators like Google. But none of them works.

I experimented with "live" and three symbols appeared as the translation, so you may or may not want to list each word separately. I don't know whether each symbol translates into "live" or whether all three are needed. Assuming that all three symbols are required for the one word, that could be a very long tattoo. Or, maybe typing in all the words will translate into only a few symbols.

I currently have scanned copies of a light novel series that I wish to read; unfortunately, I am not as proficient in Japanese as I wish I was (little comprehension of kanji) and other sites that I visit don't seem to be interested in picking it up. What is an accurate online free japanese translator?

google translate is inaccurate, so i just want to know if there is a free online translator for japanese that is exactly accurate?|||I don't know of any translators that handle the grammar very well, but if you can decode the word order and grammar, then www.rikai.com will give you the meanings of the kanji characters so you can figure out what is written.|||We might be able to find such a translator -- not 100% accurate but close to it -- 30 or 40 years from now.

One is B-cause net, it is the biggest one, and has interpreters from nearly every language. They will charge you more for the service, however.

It can all depend on the translater. I was a tranlater for my friend once, and it cost her nothing because I knew her, she was a friend. So maybe try and go online and make a friend? The price will all depend on how good her english is, and how long your stay will be.. 2 months is a while, and if your gunna need her a lot, your probably gunna need a lot of cash. :) Good luck.
